10 High Protein Snacks That Won’t Derail Your Fitness Goals

3pm most afternoons, I need a snack. Years of early morning workouts, parenting young twins, and full-time work has meant that food as fuel is a non-negotiable, snacks included.

But honestly, I need snacks to be interesting. As a vegetarian, I eat a (very) healthy amount of vegetables, so in between main meals I need to mix it up! Here's the thing though - there's a fine line between 'interesting' snacks and snacks that can derail all the effort you're currently putting into achieving those health goals..

It’s also about choosing the right nutrient-dense food. Sixty percent of a snickers bar is 150 calories, but so is two teaspoons of peanut butter with a banana. Both of these snacks have the same calories, but their nutrient make-up will either derail you or serve you.

Choosing snacks that aren't fuelling you effectively and provide little (or no) fibre, protein or nutrients (e.g. snickers bar) because you're bored, tired, unorganised, stressed or confused about what is best for your body will only cause more pain in the long run, and set you back if you're working hard towards achieving your 2022 health goals. Here are a few reasons I hear when people reach out to me:

  • I'm just not releasing that excess weight!

  • I've set a running distance goal this year, but I'm not reaching my milestones and actually feel like that goal is unachievable.

  • I can't seem to lift as heavy as I'd like.

  • I feel drained, demotivated and tired.

80% of these concerns can be sorted with the right nutrition. Snacking is a big pitfall I see to achieving almost any health goal, so...I've got you covered!

This FREE eBook has my 10 High Protein Snacks picks that will help you feel more in control, increase your energy and performance, are tasty and easy to make.

These are also some of the snacks I include in my personalised mal plans to help clients achieve their health and fitness goals.

Pick a couple, make them and let me know how you go!
