No gym, no problem.

Exercising on your holiday doesn’t have to be a chore.

Generally, the benefit of moving your body in specific ways such as running, yoga, swimming, cycling, fast-paced walking or HIIT encourages the release of endorphins and the feel good neurotransmitter -serotonin, which work together to support a healthier and happier, mind and body.

The focus with movement on your holidays doesn’t need to be about reaching your personal best, or working off last night’s drinks, it just needs to be enough that you feel positive and energised for the day ahead. On holiday, your time is best spent nurturing yourself, enjoying time with friends and family and experiencing your holiday surroundings. I’m currently away with the family at a small coastal town, and while I’m here I like to mix up my movement between resistance band workouts, 20-minute HIIT sessions, surfing and nature walks with the family. That way, I have the opportunity to watch the sunrise, experience my surroundings at their best and enjoy the sand and sea. In short, I’m having fun!

In the same way, exercise on holidays is really about having the right mindset around movement, finding an activity you actually enjoy, and can stick with. Life is pretty busy when normal routine kicks back in. On holiday, take some time out for movement by doing what works best for your mind and body.
